A kite for Kate

I swore I had magical powers,

or that we were in tune somehow,

quite unfathomable

For I was in a bubble bath one day,

like so many before,

mulling over you

I lay on my belly

and softly kissed the veneer of the tub,

wishing you’d come back to me

Less than a day later

there you were,

after months of nothing

There you were, ever like a kite

on a blustery day,

vibrant and lacking all control

Now I held you

I hardly knew what to do with you,

so, sure enough, off you flew
