Strip Malls with Ample Parking in the G-string

You shove a dollar down there and you get to park

for an hour, follow some cart full of whiny kids

into a store that sells Fluffernutter in bulk

and the other stores sell something else;

it’s bye-bye birdie, hello attainable,

strip malls with ample parking in the G-string,

yellow lines crossed, double parkers with tinted windows

reading backwards from hero

and the massage place beside the foot long sandwich joint

is a commercial attempt at irony;

that tax place that promises to cash your cheques

and take half like some reverse Robin Hood;

only hookers and loading docks back into spaces,

the rest is straight ignition;

that convenience store that keeps the strangest hours,

most inconvenient,

I don’t even know why I come here.
