Don’t take my word for it
You’ll have to take my word for it:
All this not worrying
Is really stressing me out.
Though evidence against the thought
Is now quite overwhelming.
To try to put it into words:
I didn’t mean that truth
I was telling some other truth;
Though now I can’t stop lying
At the point I no longer need to
My words were quite specific
I very clearly stated-
‘A cup of tea would not be unpleasant.’
I obviously didn’t say
That I wanted a cup of tea
So listen very carefully
Take heed and mark my words.
But now I can’t believe what I’m hearing
A derisory six out of ten
Is that all you think they are worth?
